SENIORS
The depth of the seniors was tested once again with further injuries and small spearhead Justin Whitcher away for the weekend. But with a well thought out game plan things worked beautifully for the Redbacks in the first half as the home side went in against Parkside at half time with a seven goal lead. An extended half time break allowed for the annual CFA cup between St Andrews and Panton Hill Primary Schools which provided an opportunity for the senior sides to recuperate. However, the lack of fitness in the Panton Hill side showed up once again as Parkside went about pegging back the lead goal by goal and eventually ran over the top of the Hills in the final quarter. A disappointing result in such a promising performance especially after the efforts of Will Box and Ben Strongman who deserved a better outcome.
RESERVES
A very even first quarter in a slow moving game as neither side could find the goals, but as things opened up in the second quarter it was Parkside that looked the goods and piled on five goals to one up to half time. But the fighting spirit of the Redback Reserves showed through and the Hills brought themselves right back into the game in the third quarter. In the end Parkside held out but the effort of the Redbacks was pleasing. Welcome back to Joey Fisher who’s as keen as ever after a four year absence!
